“Approaching surrealism” in Andros

This summer you can combine your Andros holidays with the cultural events that take place in the island. The museum of Modern Art which is situated in Chora of Andros, is hosting from 1/7 to 30/9/12 the revolutionary and widely renowned cultural movement of surrealism.

Visitors have the opportunity to witness 100 works of art created by Greek and foreign artists that belong in the cultural branch of surrealism.

The exhibition is split in to two sections, the first of which is portraying the historical background of the movement through exhibition of works of art from some of the pioneers of the movement. The second part of the exhibition focuses mainly on Greek surrealist artists displaying both works of literature and visual artworks.

The exhibition is also be accompanied by a volume published by “MIKRI ARKTOS” which will contain articles and contributions from K. Koutsomallis E. Glykatzi-Ahrweiler, N. Argyropoulou, I. Iliopoulou, N. Loizidi, N. Valaoritis and A. Fassianos.

The event is sponsored by The Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation-ERT S.A., SKAI Television, SKAI Radio 100.3 FM, Kathimerini newspaper, the Greek Radio Second Program and Culturenow.
